Taylor Swift is arguably the biggest star of not only pop/country but in all of music. As such, she mostly kept her political beliefs to herself during the early formative years of her career.
Though most people suspected Swift would be a liberal, she was careful to keep that side of her under wraps. As Michael Jordan once said, paraphrased of course, “Republicans buy shoes too.” Since the country music world mostly comprises conservatives, Swift made her name as a non-political country songstress.
That all changed in October 2018 when Swift made some strong pro-LGBTQ statements on her new record. She also started speaking out about perceived racial injustices. It was, of course, the same tired, false narrative that the left has parroted with great success for decades.
Her ideologic reveal also coincided with her full immersion into the pop scene. It simply isn’t profitable to be a conservative pop star. Whether Swift believed the rhetoric or not, her conversion was complete.
With the 33-year-old in the middle of the “Era’s” tour and Pride Month upon us, Swift made a point during her Chicago show to speak out and breathe new life into leftist causes. She said: “I’m looking out tonight [and] I’m seeing so many incredible individuals who are living authentically and beautifully, and this is a safe space for you.”
This weekend in Chicago, Taylor Swift took a stand against anti-LGBTQ legislation, and stood by the LGBTQ community during Pride month.
She said:

It is unclear exactly what Swift is alluding to when she calls her show a “safe space.” Chicago, in general, is a safe space for no one except those with heavy security, but it does boast one of the largest LGBTQ populations in America. “Boystown” in Chicago is the second biggest gay community in the country. The fact is, Chicago is an extremely safe place to be any LGBTQ member.
However, since we know self-proclaimed marginalized people love nothing more than attention and to be patted on the head as if having a particular sexual proclivity is something to be “proud” of, Swift seized the moment and whipped the crowd into a prideful frenzy.
She continued: “This is a celebratory space for you. You guys are screaming those lyrics [with] such solidarity [and] such support of one another and such encouraging, beautiful acceptance and peace and safety,”
One would think it was a stadium full of 70,000 members of the LGBTQ community. Since that is statistically very unlikely, perhaps it was a stadium full of people that like catchy, watered-down pop tunes and country tunes that remind them of when they were ten years younger. Considering Taylor Swift’s lengthy track record as a touring musician, she should know that people tend to, you know, sing along to the songs they know. That is literally every concert, everywhere.
She lamented further: “And I wish that every place was safe and beautiful for people of the LGBTQ+ community.”
If Swift would stop watching MSNBC and CNN, perhaps she would realize that there has never been a better time in human history to be any of the letters of LGBTQ. Saying otherwise is simply disingenuous.
She famously took to Instagram previously to parrot another mostly false talking point: “I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discriminati on based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG,
”
Discrimination based on sex and gender is not only wrong, but it is also illegal. Perhaps that is why it simply doesn’t happen. In fact, it is much more likely that in 2023 America, you will be discriminated against if you aren’t a member of a supposed marginalized community.
Taylor Swift is entitled to her opinion like anyone else is. She is also free to spout as much woke propaganda as she wants; after all, it is her show. Some of us will even still secretly love her music. However, that doesn’t make her right, and in this case, she isn’t.
