Alyssa Milano has been facing numerous difficulties lately. After causing a public uproar surrounding Elon Musk, she received a cease and desist from Volkswagen, was sued by Elon Musk, and saw her prized car catch fire in a well-known and prestigious neighborhood in Soho. Her recent misfortunes have not gone unnoticed by Joe Barron, the entertainment director at NBC. Barron has announced that Milano’s “Who’s the Boss” reboot is no longer going ahead.
Barron stated, “Given the recent events and Milano’s instability, it would not be wise to put her in charge of such a large and significant project. Even with the guidance of Tony Danza, there is a high likelihood that things could go wrong.” The show was originally slated to have a minimum of two seasons and 36 episodes, however, according to Barron, “It is not just on the backburner, it has been scrapped altogether.”
While there is always a chance that the show could be picked up by another streaming service, NBC’s Peacock service has shown no interest. Milano’s show was slated to revolve around the theme of “wokeness” and was to feature the character of a wealthy single mother who divorces her husband after realizing she is a lesbian. Instead of hiring a hunky nanny and his adorable child, Milano’s character was looking to hire a slightly masculine yet still attractive housekeeper, similar to the character of Jo from “Facts of Life” and her 19-year-old daughter.
Milano was quoted as saying, “I’ve always wanted to do a provocative scene with her. She’s a hot commodity.” This kind of behavior could be seen as grooming, and is one of the reasons NBC ultimately decided to abandon the project. It is important to maintain a level of professionalism and integrity in the entertainment industry.
