A child on his way to school was struck in a crosswalk by a vehicle driven by l ongtime Democrat leader and Will County Board Member Jacqueline Traynere. According to police and witness reports, after hitting the child, Traynere left the scene and later showed up at the Bolingbrook Police Department.
The accident occurred on the morning of March 11, 2025. The child, riding his bicycle with the crosswalk light in his favor, was reportedly hit by Traynere’s blue vehicle while crossing the street. Multiple witnesses confirmed the child was legally crossing when the car, which had been stopped at a red light, accelerated once the left turn arrow turned green. According to these witnesses, Traynere hit the child, briefly checked on him, and then left the scene, heading eastbound on Lily Cache Lane. One witness immediately called police to report the incident.
When Traynere arrived at the Bolingbrook Police Station later that morning, she told officers she wasn’t sure if she had hit the child. However, officers noted visible damage to her vehicle, including a dent and large scratch on the hood, which was not explained by Traynere. Despite the child reporting being struck by the car, and another child on the scene confirming the same, Traynere was only issued a ticket for failing to yield the right-of-way in a crosswalk.
