Rod Stewart has left an indelible mark in the hearts and minds of millions of people worldwide, and continues to make an impact in the lives of many up until today through his music. But outside his career as an artist, Stewart is known for being a great family man. Having been given the gift of becoming a grandfather for the first time in 2011 when his daughter Kimberly gave birth to her own daughter, Delilah, the father-of-eight will soon welcome the newest addition to their family.

Stewart is among the best-selling music artists of all time. He started his career in 1962, joining Jimmy Powell and The Five Dimensions as the band’s harmonica player and vocalist. Apart from joining different groups throughout his musical career, Stewart also established himself as a soloist. To date, he has released a total of 32 studio albums, and seven of those reached No. 1 on the UK album charts.

He is most known for his hits like “Sailing,” “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright)” and “You’re in My Heart (The Final Acclaim),” among many other chart-toppers that eventually became classic hits.

Stewart is a recipient of a Grammy Award, a BRIT Award, and an Ivor Novello Award. In 1994, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005, was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006, and was awarded a CBE in the 2007 New Year Honours. Eventually, he was appointed Knight Bachelor during the 2016 Birthday Honours. For all his achievements over his six-decade career, Stewart’s worth now stands at $300 million.

The rockstar has eight children from five different women and has tied the knot three times. He has been married to his current wife, Penny Lancaster, for more than two decades now.

Stewart and Lancaster began dating in 1999 and were married by 2007. The pair has two children – Alistair, born in 2005 and Aiden, born in 2011. Despite being a multi-millionaire, Lancaster said the rocker still has some strange habits, such as buying cheap glasses.

“Unfortunately, he’s happy to make do with cheap glasses from supermarkets, which can actually harm your eyes,” Lancaster told Daily Record. She added his reasoning was: “‘That’s what old men do.’ So instead, he has at least four sets of spectacles around the house and car, so he can find a pair if he suddenly needs to write a song.”

Stewart is also pretty hands-on around the house. In March 2020, he posted a photo on Instagram of himself cleaning out his garage in an all-white ensemble, something many of his fans found surprising. “Can’t believe Rod got half empty paint pots, surely he don’t do his own decorating 😂😂” one comment read.

Stewart’s aversion to messes also extends outside the home. In March 2022, the “Rhythm of my Heart” singer took to the streets outside his Essex estate to help fill potholes. The then 77-year-old shared a clip of himself shoveling gravel to repair “the street near where I live because no one can be bothered to do it.”

“People are bashing their cars up. The other day, there was an ambulance with a burst tyre. My Ferrari can’t go through here at all,” he added.

It appears Stewart’s penchant for cleaning up after himself and others is something he is keen on imparting to his children at home. He frequently posts photos and videos of the Stewart clan getting together to cook, clean and have an all-around good time while still being considerate.

Keeping things in order is very much up Stewart’s alley. The artist told Contact Music he’s quite a stickler for cleanliness. “I’m pretty good around the house I like a tidy house, Lancaster is really untidy. I do wash dishes, and I go ‘I bet Elton (John) or Bruce Springsteen don’t do this’. We have got staff but I do like to go and do it,” he said.

In November 2021, the music icon shared an endearing clip of him in the kitchen with his family listening to music and boogieing along as they cleaned up and did the dishes. “This is my daughter. She’s clearing up. Here are my two sons. They’re all clearing up. We’re a family,” he said in the clip.

This wasn’t the first time Stewart shared what goes on behind the scenes at home. In December 2019, he posted a video of himself helping out with Christmas dinner. He said other family members had also been tasked with their own duties. “We’ve all been given a job – mine is peeling potatoes,” he said.

Lancaster had previously revealed she and her husband are adamant about keeping their brood grounded. “They have to do chores around the house to earn money and save up. They need to understand that our lifestyle is not the norm,” she said.

In January 2023, Stewart announced he would welcome another grandchild to the clan this year. His daughter, Ruby, confirmed the news with an ultrasound snap with the caption, “We can’t wait to meet you…Baby boy Kalick coming in April…” Stewart himself had undertaken the gender reveal, a clip of which showed him pumping the air after he exclaimed, “It’s a boy!”

We can’t wait to see the rocker share his love for all things tidy with the new addition to the Stewart clan!
