His role in the iconic American Gigolo placed him on the list of sexiest actors of Hollywood, and today, at the age of 73, actor Richard Gere hasn’t lost any of his charm that helped him make a name for himself as a heartthrob.

What’s most, he feels young and enjoys his life to the fullest. The A-list actor who is best knows for his roles in Pretty Woman and An Officer and a Gentleman has been married three times.

He and his current wife, Alejandra Silva, have two children together. Silva is 33 years his junior.

She has always been open about their marriage, and this time, she has been candid of the tragic event that struck the family during their vacation in Mexico.

Namely, prior to the vacation, Gere was suffering from a cough. However, his health reportedly deteriorated and he was forced to seek medical attention. As initially reported by TMZ, Gere was diagnosed with pneumonia. The actor stayed in the hospital overnight in order to be monitored but was released the following day after being prescribed antibiotics.

Following the overwhelming messages of love and support, Silva decided to put an end to the speculations and concerns so she took to the social media to post an update of her husband’s health.

“I woke up this morning and I saw the news and all your kind and [worried] messages,” she captioned the post. “He is recovering he is feeling much better today!”

Silva further added, “The worst has already [passed]! Thank you all for [your] sweet messages we really appreciate them! ♥️♥️ #thankyou.”

Even before the actor was hospitalized, Silva, who was celebrating her 40th birthday during the family trip, revealed that the family was going through some kind of sickness by sharing a photo of herself walking with her two children towards the sea. She captioned the photo, “Thank you all for the birthday wishes… after almost 3 weeks of everyone being sick in our family, today finally I feel much better! Thank you for all the love I give it all back to you! #happybirthday #happy40.”
