Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) excoriated special counselJack Smithfor what she claims is a politically-motivatedlooming indictmentagainst former President Donald Trump related to his statements made leading up to the January 6, 2021 riots at the Capitol.

Asked for her reaction, Rep. Greene went nuclear:

“It’s absolute bullsh*t, that’s my reaction. This is the only way that the Democrats have to beat President Trump, is to arrest him, smear him, charge him with ridiculous charges all on a coverup ofJoe Biden’s crimes,Hunter Biden’scrimes. It’s unbelievable. It’s hard to even recognize that this is our country,” said Greene.

Rep. Greene went on to demonstrate how another series of charges put forth against Trump by Smith would further the “weaponized government” argument that Republicans have wielded to decry atwo-tiered justice systemin the wake ofHunter Bidenescaping prison time after pleading guilty to a series of tax and firearms crimes. Rumors are swirling that Smith may bring up to45 additional charges

against the former president in the classified documents case.

“The American people are going to be furious. And what Jack Smith is doing is the weaponized government. And he’s weaponizing the Department of Justice against President Trump in a complete lie about President Trump and January 6th. And it’s outrageous, I can’t believe our country has to endure this, and I’ll be standing with President Trump the entire way,” Rep. Greene added.

Asked whether she thinks new charges against President Trump related to J6 would be more serious than his previous classified documents charges, Greene said she believes they would be and pointed to thetreatment of J6 prisonerswho have been found guilty.

“The charges they’re looking at bringing against him, they arrested people from January 6th, they held them pre-trial, they never let them out on bail, and the question that I want to ask Jack Smith is, is this the plan? Are they going to arrest President Trump? Charge him with phony fake charges and hold him in prison while he is winning the Republican primary?” Green asked.

Since being indicted on felony counts of mishandling classified documents, President Trump has seen his standingskyrocket among Republicanvoters who give him a 30 to 40-point lead over rivals in the field, including Florida GovernorRon DeSantiswho has fallen back to neck-and-neck with businessmanVivek Ramaswamy.
