He also attacked his glaring lack of patriotism.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m going to give you the real deal: I\u2019m an American,\u201d Brown said. \u201cI don\u2019t desecrate my flag and my national anthem.\u201d<\/p>\n
He went on to criticize Kaepernick for lacking intelligence on two fronts. The first being that, working out social justice problems in America can be done \u201cin an intelligent manner,\u201d not by kneeling during the national anthem.

But kneeling for the national anthem the way Kaepernick did last season as 49ers quarterback isn\u2019t how Brown would show leadership.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m going to give you the real deal: I\u2019m an American,\u201d Brown said. \u201cI don\u2019t desecrate my flag and my national anthem. I\u2019m not gonna do anything against the flag and national anthem. I\u2019m going to work within those situations. But this is my country, and I\u2019ll work out the problems, but I\u2019ll do it in an intelligent manner.\u201d<\/p>\n
The second point Brown made in Kaepernick\u2019s unintelligent protest: You can\u2019t take money from owners and the league and then fail to respect their rules.<\/p>\n
\u201cFootball is commercial,\u201d Brown explained. \u201cYou have owners. You have fans. And you want to honor that if you\u2019re making that kind of money.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kaepernick\u2019s stunt has proven detrimental to the NFL, as fewer and fewer fans are willing to shell out money in the form of watching programming and absorbing advertisements. A recent survey showed that the top reason cited by NFL fans for watching fewer games this past season was the national anthem protests.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have to understand there\u2019s intelligence that\u2019s involved, OK?\u201d Brown added. \u201cI can\u2019t be two things at once that contradict each other. If I sign for money, then the people I sign with, they have rules and regulations.\u201d<\/p>\n
Perhaps that\u2019s why owners don\u2019t want to take a chance in signing Kaepernick. They know through example that he won\u2019t abide by their rules and regulations.<\/p>\n
