Hawn and Russell have raised four children together and share one biological child, and are currently grandparents to seven grandchildren, with their newest grandbaby being born in February 2021. As they celebrate every new milestone together, the couple has shown the Hollywood industry that a long-term, dedicated relationship is not only possible but can let you thrive when you meet the right person.<\/p>\n

After being together for four decades, the legendary actress claims Russell still makes her feel beautiful. You\u2019re a wild one, brilliant, lovable, childlike, perfectly maddening, a father supreme and deeply funny!\u201d What a wonderful sentiment that Hawn has expressed!
\n\u201cI can\u2019t imagine my life without you at any age, Kurt Russell. You\u2019re the catch. And you\u2019re all mine \u201d the post continued.<\/p>\n

The couple has been together for exactly four decades, and seeing posts like this just shows us that their love is only strengthened by the years.<\/p>\n

Russell\u2019s stepdaughter, Kate Hudson, also chimed in with a birthday wish for her \u201cPa\u201d and it is just as sweet as her mom\u2019s tribute. Her post was an old throwback photograph of their entire family, and Hudson took the opportunity to elaborate on just how important Russell has been in her life. Her heartfelt caption said, \u201cI\u2019m gonna gush cause I don\u2019t often about this man but I figure since today he turns 70 I\u2019m gonna let it out. Plus he\u2019ll never see this\u00a0\ud83d\ude02\u201d<\/p>\n

The last sentence is probably a jab at the fact that Russell does not have an official Instagram profile. However, that has not stopped Hudson from pouring her heart out in a post for her father figure.<\/p>\n

It is so sweet to know that Russell has had such a beautiful impact on all of his children. This was a conscious choice on the part of the parents, however, as Russell said in an interview with the Daily Mail in 2018:<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone has their marker on what is really important and where you draw the line. For Goldie and me, that core value was this: the kids come first. That big movie I turned down came at an age when they really needed one of us around.\u201d<\/p>\n

With parents like this who put their kids first, it is no wonder that the entire Hawn and Russell family is so close. Hudson had also spoken about how important her parents are to her in an interview with People in 2020. \u201cMom is kinetic and she is a butterfly. And Pa likes his family and his home. This is a beautiful tribute from a daughter to a father, and it just warms our heart to see how close everyone in the family is! Hudson and her brother Oliver are Hawn\u2019s children whom she shared with ex-husband Bill Hudson. Kurt had son Boston Russell from a previous marriage to Season Hubley, and Hawn and Russell share son Wyatt, and have co-parented all their children in their blended family. While the date of Buddy\u2019s birth is not yet clear, in an Instagram post Hagner revealed that he was born two weeks after they had a photo-shoot for Vogue Magazine. According to Hello! Magazine, Hawn is \u201cincredibly close\u201d to all her grandchildren and was even present for all of their births. Hawn told Australian Women\u2019s Weekly, \u201cA good family is the answer to happiness.\u201d She also added,<\/p>\n

\u201cI look at our kids and grandchildren and there\u2019s nothing in the world that could make me as proud as I am of all of them. Being a grandmother is amazing, I love it. It brings incredible joy. Family is so important.\u201d<\/p>\n

In terms of how they\u2019ve managed to create such a warm and loving family atmosphere, Russell and Hawn have been able to do so since spending quality time together is one of their priorities in life. \u201cWe always trim the tree on Christmas Eve and we have a big meal,\u201d Russell told Closer Weekly. \u201cThe grandkids put their pajamas on and hang up their stockings. It is also important for Hawn to celebrate big events with her grandchildren throughout the year, such as granddaughter Rio\u2019s preschool graduation and charity functions for the Goldie Hawn Foundation. Photos of such events on her social media show how close the family truly feels with one another.<\/p>\n

Kurt and Goldie have been together since 1983. They initially met in 1966 while filming together, but reconnected on the set of their film \u201cSwing Shift,\u201d and have been inseparable ever since, even going on to star in further movies together after becoming romantically involved. The couple has even joined each other on-screen again in the last few years in \u201cThe Christmas Chronicles\u201c movies, where, rather fittingly, they play Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. The first movie was released in 2018, while the sequel came out in November 2020. We couldn\u2019t think of a better pair to play the iconic roles than Hollywood\u2019s golden couple Hawn and Russell.<\/p>\n

However, one interesting thing about their relationship is that the couple never chose to get married. Hawn openly discussed the topic in a 2007 interview with Woman\u2019s Day magazine. Asked why they won\u2019t head down the aisle, Hawn responded:<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause we have done just perfectly without marrying. I already feel devoted and isn\u2019t that what marriage is supposed to do? So as long as my emotional state is in a state of devotion, honesty, caring and loving, then we\u2019re fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did a great job there and we didn\u2019t have to get married to do that. I like waking up every day and seeing that he is there and knowing that I have a choice. There is really no reason to marry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having been through a failed marriage, Russell said in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning correspondent Tracy Smith that he had been determined to undermine his relationship with Hawn, especially in the initial stages: \u201cMatter of fact, when I met Goldie, I was at a time in my life, and a period in my life, when I was going to put my worst foot forward when it came to any kind of a relationship with the possibility of a relationship,\u201d said the father-of-two. \u201cI put my worst foot forward. If you can handle that, then maybe there\u2019s a chance of some reality there of being together.\u201d<\/p>\n

This seemed to take Hawn by surprise but Russell insisted that he did, saying that he had been hungover the first time he met her: \u201cWell, the first time I met her, I was horribly hungover. That\u2019s not a good foot forward.\u201d To which Hawn told Russell, \u201cBut you were fun.\u201d When asked what the secret to their relationship is, the two actors shook their heads and said there is no secret. \u201cYou\u2019ve got to want to be together,\u201d Hawn said to The New York Times. Russell shared her sentiment, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s up, and down, it\u2019s sideways, it\u2019s whatever. At the end of the day, how do you explain it? \u2026 It\u2019s the same thing as what you\u2019re saying. I call that love.\u201d<\/p>\n
