Martin, 19, supported himself by working as a janitor at a supermarket. While mopping the floors one day, he came across a rich woman\u2019s wallet and decided to return it. Little did the boy realize that his good karma would return to him in the most unexpected way.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Martin was mopping the floors at the supermarket on a regular afternoon when a woman walked in, having parked her SUV right outside the door. Their eyes met for a while, and the woman stopped.<\/p>\n

\u201cHave we met before, young man?\u201d she asked, and Martin shook his head.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry, I was just confused. I don\u2019t believe I\u2019ve ever met you. Sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martin got back to his work and noticed the woman again as she made the payment. As she walked out of the store, he gave her a gentle smile, and she smiled back.<\/p>\n

After cleaning the floors, Martin was about to head home when he noticed a wallet on the ground, right outside the store. He remembered the wallet belonged to the woman who had previously shopped at the store, and he opened it to see if it contained any ID with her address.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, it did, so he decided to return it to her. There were several dollar bills in there as well, but Martin didn\u2019t touch a single one. He hopped on his bike and pedaled all the way to her house. When he arrived, he knocked on the door, and she was surprised to see him.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cOh, it\u2019s you! The boy from the mart!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHey,\u201d Martin said as he extended his wallet. \u201cYou dropped it outside the store. Just double-check that everything is there. If you misplaced any cards or IDs, you should notify the cops.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh dear!\u201d she exclaimed. \u201cThank you very much! I had no idea I had dropped it. By the way, my name is Suzane. And, oh my God, everything seems fine\u2026\u201d she added, checking the wallet. \u201cIt had $2500, and there\u2019s not one bill less.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCool then; I\u2019ll leave. Have a good day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell,\u201d she said. \u201cSince you\u2019re here, why don\u2019t you join me for dinner? The mart is a bit out of the way, and you came all the way for this. It wouldn\u2019t be fair if I didn\u2019t return the favor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martin wanted to turn down the offer, but he couldn\u2019t because he hadn\u2019t eaten well in days. He was just 19, living an orphaned life. Ramen was the only thing he knew how to cook, and he hadn\u2019t had a homemade meal in months!<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you,\u201d he said shyly as he followed her inside.<\/p>\n

Suzane was a fantastic cook, and she had made delicious spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, which Martin couldn\u2019t resist.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s delicious!\u201d he said with a big satisfied smile as he had the first bite. \u201cYou\u2019re a great cook!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s very sweet of you, young boy!\u201d Suzane smiled. \u201cBy the way, you didn\u2019t tell me your name.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m Martin, 19, and currently a part-time worker at the store. Mom and Dad kicked me out of home, so you can call me an orphan. I don\u2019t really care, honestly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGood Lord, that\u2019s awful!\u201d Suzane gasped. \u201cIf you don\u2019t mind me asking, what happened?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGrandpa was kinda rich, and Mom and Dad made good use of that man,\u201d Martin began. \u201cGrandpa was a well-known lawyer. He left everything to Dad after he died, and Dad spent all of the money on himself. He kicked me out and stopped supporting me when he ran out of money. Mom didn\u2019t care either\u2026 They\u2019re too preoccupied with their own worries.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I\u2019m sorry about what happened,\u201d said Suzane. \u201cBut I\u2019m a lawyer too. And honestly, Martin, you remind me of someone. What was your Grandpa\u2019s name again?\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n

When Martin revealed his grandfather\u2019s name, Suzane had a big smile on her face. It turned out Martin\u2019s grandfather\u2019s law firm was one of the most prominent ones back in the early 90s, and Suzane\u2019s first job was at his grandfather\u2019s firm.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a brilliant man!\u201d Suzane said cheerfully. \u201cI\u2019ll never forget his principles or what he taught me. In fact, I\u2019ve passed on those values to the lawyers who work for me today.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI know Grandpa was amazing,\u201d Martin said sadly, putting the fork down. \u201cI want to become a lawyer like him, but\u2026but there\u2019s no money, you know. I barely afford my rent.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell then, it\u2019s time I return your kindness,\u201d Suzane said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll pay for your college, Martin, and you should make your grandfather proud. You see, my husband died years ago, and all my kids moved out, and now my law practice and this empty house are all I have. I have all the free time in the world, and I can help you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh no, that would be crazy. I mean, you offered me food to make up for the wallet. The tuition fees would be too much. I don\u2019t think I can take it.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Suzane insisted on paying for Martin\u2019s education, and she offered to help him in every way she could. Martin was grateful for her assistance and attended law school, and years later, he graduated summa cum laude. Suzane was moved to tears as she watched the young man succeed in life.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour grandfather will be very proud of you,\u201d she told him when he first began working at her firm. \u201cYou should become the best in whatever you do, Martin.\u201d<\/p>\n
