Garth Brooks has some friends in very low places\u2026namely Bud Light, as he ditched the standard\u00a0set by John Rich<\/a>\u00a0and others,\u00a0such as Travis Tritt<\/a>, and has decided that\u00a0he will sell Bud Light<\/a>\u00a0at his Nashville bar.<\/p>\n

Speaking on that, Brooks said that the bar would sell \u201cevery brand of beer\u201d to customers, and that people who don\u2019t want to buy Bud Light should go to the \u201cother places on Broadway\u201d because he thinks that anyone who does that is \u201can a**hole.\u201d As\u00a0he put it<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cI want it to be a place you feel safe in. I want it to be a place where you feel like there are manners and people like one another. And, yes, we\u2019re going to serve every brand of beer. We just are. It\u2019s not our decision to make. Our thing is this: If you [are let] into this house, love one another. If you\u2019re an a\u2013hole, there are plenty of other places on lower Broadway.<\/em><\/p>\n

Predictably, people keeping up with Brooks on Twitter were furious about that comment and tore into him for it. One, for example, encouraged people to boycott Brooks\u2019 bar because of what he thinks of them for not wanting to drink Bud Light,\u00a0saying<\/a>,\u00a0\u201cIf you live in Tennessee, I recommend you never go to @garthbrooks new bar. They\u2019re going to sell Bud Light and app arently he thinks we\u2019re \u2018a\u2014holes\u2019 if we don\u2019t like it. Make sure all your friends know that.<\/em><\/p>\n

Others said that they would not just be boycotting Brooks\u2019 bar but his music as well. One of those Twitter posters, for example,\u00a0said<\/a>, \u201cMy trash bin is full\u2026I threw out everything that had Garth Brooks name on it.<\/em>\u201d Another said, \u201c@garthbrooks I was a huge fan of yours back in the early nineties, before you fell into the trap of being a star, before you left your high school sweetheart, remember her? It was always about your fans. Now, we\u2019re, \u201ca******s\u201d for boycotting Budweiser? Welcome to the boycott.<\/em><\/p>\n

Brooks recently tried, without much effect, to defend his decision to sell Bud Light was related to his love of \u201cdiversity\u201d and inclusivity. Who exactly that statement was meant to convince is unclear, as the diversity, equity, and inclusion crowd is still generally on board with Bud Light and so not mad with him for selling it. In any case,\u00a0he said<\/a>:\u00a0\u201cI get it. Everybody\u2019s got their opinions. But inclusiveness is always going to be me. I think diversity is the answer to the problems that are here and the answer to the problems that are coming. So I love diversity. All included, so all are welcome. I understand that might not be other people\u2019s opinions, but that\u2019s okay. They have their opinions, they have their beliefs, I have mine.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
