He ultimately determined that the analyzed films lost a combined total of $890 million dollars.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the aforementioned\u00a0<em>Little Mermaid<\/em>\u00a0reboot and\u00a0<em>Elemental<\/em>, the run includes\u00a0<em>Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Thor: Love and Thunder, Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3<\/em>. Also included are two movies that fared terribly at the box office, including\u00a0<em>Strange World<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Lightyear.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Disney could soon be facing another box office bomb with the upcoming\u00a0<em>Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny<\/em>, which is set to hit theatres on Friday. According to a report from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2023\/06\/indiana-jones-and-the-dial-of-destiny-box-office-projection-1235412010\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Deadline,<\/em><\/a>\u00a0box office analysts are predicting the film to haul in between $60 million to $70 million over the holiday weekend. While this total would be great for most releases, the company anticipated significantly better results.<\/p>\n<p>Valiant Renegade estimated that combined losses could soon exceed the one-billion-dollar mark as the titles will head to Disney+ as opposed to other streaming services, like Netflix or Amazon Prime, where they could generate extra revenue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat can\u2019t go on forever. It\u2019s just simple numbers, folks,\u201d the box office analyst said. \u201cThat\u2019s where we are. The film \u2014 which spotlighted the\u00a0<em>Toy Story<\/em>\u00a0character Buzz Lightyear \u2014 was projected to gross over $135 million in its worldwide opening. It ultimately\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2022\/06\/20\/lightyear\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pulled in<\/a>\u00a0just $85.6 million worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The film, which was marketed to children, was criticized by many parents and international fans for including a kiss scene involving a same-sex couple. Those involved with the film pushed back on the criticism, including Chris Evans, who replaced Tim Allen as the voice of Buzz Lightyear. \u201cThe real truth is those people are idiots,\u201d Evans\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/lifestyle\/lightyear-star-chris-evans-calls-critics-on-screen-representation-idiots-2022-06-14\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a>\u00a0Reuters in an interview at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery time there\u2019s been social advancement as we wake up, the American story, the human story is one of constant social awakening and growth and that\u2019s what makes us good,\u201d he added<\/p>\n<p>Disney also incurred a $100 million loss on\u00a0<em>Strange Love<\/em>, which contained similar themes.<\/p>\n<p>Much like the\u00a0<em>Lightyear<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Strange Love<\/em>\u00a0debacles, the animated film\u00a0<em>Elemental \u2014\u00a0<\/em>which is still in theaters \u2014 is projected to be one of the worst Pixar releases in the company\u2019s history. The children\u2019s film earned $29.5 million at the domestic office and $48 million globally. Early projections pegged the opening domestic haul at $40 million, placing the film in box office bomb territory given its high budget.<\/p>\n<p>The film \u2014 which cost the company $200 million to make \u2014 has been panned by audiences over incessant identify politics.
