Geraldo Rivera will return to the airwaves this week after he was cut by Fox News at the end of June following a two-decade stint with the network.<\/p>\n

The former resident liberal on \u201cThe Five\u201d and \u201cHannity\u201d will join the ladies of ABC\u2019s \u201cThe View<\/a>\u201d on Thursday, he announced on\u00a0Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Monday afternoon, Rivera tweeted, \u201cDelighted to do @TheView Thursday. Wonder what they\u2019ll ask me about.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 80-year-old\u2019s announcement was not exactly a surprise to some of his followers \u2014 some of who commented he would be right at home on the notoriously\u00a0far-left show<\/a><\/p>\n

Rivera\u2019s final appearance on Fox News came on Friday, June 30.<\/p>\n

Following a sendoff on \u201cFox & Friends,\u201d he sat at the table on \u201cThe Five<\/a>\u201d later in the day for the last time.<\/p>\n

Rivera\u2019s exit from Fox News followed tension online, and reportedly behind the scenes, between him and network host\u00a0Greg Gutfeld<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The former daytime talk show host roiled many Fox News viewers after he attacked former prime-time star\u00a0Tucker Carlson<\/a>\u00a0online in the days after he was ousted by the network.<\/p>\n

The tweet about Carlson\u2019s ouster sparked a Twitter back-and-forth between him and Gutfeld.<\/p>\n

A week later, he said his appearances on \u201cThe Five\u201d had been \u201ccanceled.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rivera told the\u00a0Associated Press<\/a>\u00a0on June 21 he was willing to voluntarily leave\u00a0Fox News<\/a>\u00a0and said network executives had not fought hard to keep him.<\/p>\n

He later posted an image of himself shirtless and said he was contemplating retirement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe View\u201d returned to the air on Monday after a temporary hiatus, the show announced on Twitter.<\/p>\n
