Dermot Mulroney, the star of \u201cMy Best Friend\u2019s Wedding\u201d and other, more recent films like \u201cYoung Guns,\u201d \u201cPoint of No Return,\u201d and \u201cSecret Invasion\u201d recently appeared on ABC\u2019s \u201cThe View\u201d and, during his appearance, walked off the show in a show of solitary with the striking Writers Guild of America.<\/p>\n
That came several minutes into the episode, during which Mulroney asked the hosts if they were about to cut to a commercial break. Joy Behar responded, saying, \u201cWe are.\u201d That\u2019s when Mulroney got up and walked off the show to show his support for the striking writers.<\/p>\n
Explaining why he did so, he said,\u00a0\u201cFirst \u2014 I want to do this symbolically and in solidarity with the writers.\u201d Continuing, he then added,\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m going to walk off your show. I\u2019ll see you on the picket lines.\u201d At that point, he walked off the show.<\/p>\n
That came in the middle of an interview that was generally going well and smoothly. It covered Mulroney\u2019s past roles in Hollywood, his current Disney+ series, called \u201cSecret Invasion,\u201d and how to have longevity in Hollywood. He also covered things like family life, work ethic, and building a career in the industry.<\/p>\n
Mulroney, speaking about the incident in a statement toVariety,<\/em>said<\/a>, \u201cSince I have such respect for \u2018The View,\u2019 a news program with a heart, it was there that I felt comfortable enough to\u00a0draw attention to the ongoing WGA strike for fair wages and working hours, as I find it incredibly important to continue to support the union.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n The hosts weren\u2019t overly perturbed by him walking off.
