He also got Joe Rogan, now one of the top and most famous podcasters in the world, to start his show.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Recently, however, Carolla was in the news not for his being the guy that got podcasting going, but for savagely mocking Rep. AOC on his podcast, the Adam Carolla Show, joking that people wouldn\u2019t care what AOC had to say if she were unattractive. In his words:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf she was in her 60s and husky, nobody would listen to a word she ever said because she sounds like an ldiot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s a claim he\u2019s made before. Speaking with Hannity back in February, Carolla said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere\u2019s a quick thought experiment: If AOC was fat and in her 60s, would anyone listen to another thing she ever said?<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[S]he\u2019s young, she\u2019s vibrant, she\u2019s beautiful, and everyone\u2019s always putting a camera and a mic in her face. But her opinions are ldiotic 95 percent of the time. And I don\u2019t think, if she was a middle-aged heavy-set woman, anyone would care what she had to say.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Watch him make the recent version of the claim about AOC and her looks here:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Adam Carolla on Free Speech, Cancel Culture, AOC and Covid Hysteria.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iYfh4Pua06A?start=1&amp;feature=oembed\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Those comments led to ou-trage that came largely from the left, with John Stossel noting two instances of that ou-trage in a recent opinion piece of his, saying:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPredatory!\u201d said \u201cMajority Report\u2019s\u201d Emma Vigeland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProjects his se-xi-sm onto others,\u201d said \u201cYoung Turks\u201d host Cenk Uygur.<\/p>\n<p>Carolla isn\u2019t backing down, however. Commenting to Stossel that he\u2019s just wired \u201cnot to care [about criticism], as long as I\u2019m right,\u201d Carolla also blasted those who attempt to fo-rce those with whom they disagree to apologize, saying:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey want you to apologize because they want dominion over you. And once you apologize, they just keep coming back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stossel commented on Carolla\u2019s de-vil-may-care attitude and friendship with those on the left despite his own right-leaning po-litical views in a recent article in the Daily Signal, saying:<\/p>\n<p>Carolla laughs at those at-tacks.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s unusual in Hollywood because he\u2019s still friends with leftists who disagree with him.<\/p>\n<p>He does stand-up comedy with Sarah Silverman. He joins Bill Maher\u2019s podcast. Such political mixing is rare today. Usually, the left and right just don\u2019t talk to each other.<\/p>\n<p>Carolla says that\u2019s not surprising.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re a Steelers fan in a bar, you want to sit next to a guy who\u2019s a Steelers fan.\u201d But, he says, \u201coccasionally \u2026 you have to invite somebody over from the Patriots bar and have a robust debate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, though he has those friends, Carolla is still willing to sav-agely critique certain aspects of the modern left (even outside of AOC, who we\u2019ve seen he\u2019s happy to go after), particularly its support of the self-esteem movement and identity po-litics. Speaking on those topics, Carolla said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe started\u2026in earnest with this self-esteem movement, that it\u2019d be really good if everyone had high self-esteem. And the way you get high self-esteem is through accomplishing things that are tough. But you can\u2019t just hand people high self-esteem and tell them they\u2019re the best and they don\u2019t need to listen to anybody, and nothing they can do is wrong. And when you do that, you create a mo-nster, essentially. You create hor-rible citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s\u2026interesting that we\u2019ve decided \u2014 as a society \u2014 that if something happens to an individual, we just find another individual that sort of looks like that person, and they [can] comment on it. \u2026 When I was 12, I looked like Donnie Osmond. So if Donnie Osmond got in a plane cra-sh, would they come to me for commentary?
