When Kid Rock was scheduled to do a concert at the\u00a0Little Caesars Arena\u00a0<\/em>in his hometown of Detriot, Michigan, Rev. Al Sharpton decided to take action. Through his\u00a0National Action Network<\/a>, Sharpton backed an\u00a0\u201canti-Kid Rock\u201d<\/a>\u00a0protest accusing the Michigan native of using the Confederate flag as a symbol of \u201cwhite supremacy\u201d in his shows.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are trying to use the old confederate flag BS, etc. to stir the pot, when we all know none of this would be going on if I were not thinking of running for office,\u201d the singer, whose real name is Robert Ritchie,\u00a0wrote in a\u00a0Facebook post<\/a>\u00a0after urging his followers to ignore \u201cthe garbage the extreme left is trying to create.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPretty funny how scared I have them all and their only agenda is to try and label people\/me racist who do not agree or cower to them!!\u201d Kid Rock\u00a0declared<\/a>. He took aim at his critics and said he is \u201cvery disappointed\u201d that none of the charities or businesses he has backed in the past have come to his defense against \u201cthese handfuls of jacka\u2013es and\u00a0The Detroit Free Press<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kid Rock also publicly blasted Sharpton and his National Action Network (NAN). \u201cI would however employ that NAN go ahead and make up these losses since they claim to be so good for Detroit and do not want me opening the arena and generating tons of jobs and tax dollars for the city and people I LOVE\u2026 IDIOTS! \u2026.. Has Al Sharpton even paid his back taxes yet?\u201d Kid Rock\u00a0exclaimed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0All Summer Long<\/em>\u00a0singer continued to slam his critics. \u201cI know I should probably not even have posted anything about these bottom feeders but I will always stand up for myself, my family, my friends, my fans, my city, my state, my country, and the good in human nature!\u201d he\u00a0wrote<\/a>\u00a0in the post. \u201cP.P.P.P.P.S. I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE!!\u201d<\/p>\n

MLive<\/em>\u00a0reporter Edward Pevos addressed the controversy. \u201cYou won\u2019t see the Confederate flag on the current Kid Rock tour, and you haven\u2019t seen it at one of his concerts in years,\u201d he\u00a0wrote<\/a>. \u201cBut, still the Detroit chapter of the National Action Network is asking Kid Rock to denounce it. The spokesperson for Kid Rock told the\u00a0Detroit Free Press<\/em>\u00a0the Detroit area rocker hasn\u2019t used the flag since he accepted a Great Expectations Award from the NAACP of Detroit in 2011.\u201d<\/p>\n
