The leftist attorney general who campaigned on \u201cgetting Trump\u201d has vowed to seize Trump\u2019s properties if he is unable to pay the $464 million fine levied against him in James\u2019 dubious civil fraud case.<\/p>\n<p>On March 6, James registered Judge Arthur Engoron\u2019s $464 million judgement against Trump in Westchester County, according to a Westchester County\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wro.westchesterclerk.com\/legalsearch.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">online database<\/a>. The move will make it easier for James to seize the former president\u2019s 140-acre Trump National Golf Club Westchester and Seven Springs estate, both of which are located in the New York suburb, if he is unable to pay the fine by Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Judgements against the Trump Organization, as well as Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, have also been filed in the county.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" title=\"Letitia James Takes First Steps Towards Seizing Trump&amp;apos;s Westchester Golf Course\" src=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/embed\/v4i3r50\/?pub=4#?secret=uDrzOtZqYS\" data-secret=\"uDrzOtZqYS\" width=\"848\" height=\"458\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div id=\"rumble_v4i3r50\">\n<div id=\"vid_v4i3r50\" class=\"rumble_v4i3r50-Rumble-cls\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n<div class=\"bigPlayUI ctp\">\n<div class=\"bigPlayUIInner ctp\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Trump\u2019s attorneys have sought court approval for a reduced\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/donald-trump-broke-cash-bond-fraud-penalty-1874570\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$100 million bond<\/a>, which could result in a decision shortly. In a separate court filing, Trump\u2019s attorneys have stated that securing the full amount is a \u201cpractically impossibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe amount of the judgment, with interest, exceeds $464 million, and very few bonding companies will consider a bond of anything approaching that magnitude,\u201d Trump\u2019s lawyers said. \u201cDespite scouring the market, we have been unsuccessful in our efforts to obtain a bond for the Judgment Amount for Defendants for the simple reason that obtaining an appeal bond for $464 million is a practical impossibility under the circumstances presented.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>James has previously stated that she is prepared to seize Trump\u2019s properties and other assets if he is unable to pay the fine by Monday, March 25. \u201cIf he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court, and we will ask the judge to seize his assets,\u201d James\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/trendingpoliticsnews.com\/new-york-ag-letitia-james-is-prepared-to-seize-trumps-buildings-if-he-cant-pay-354-million-fine-cmc\/\">said<\/a>\u00a0during an interview with ABC News last month.<\/p>\n<p>Former Acting U.S. Attorney General Matt Whitaker and a number of additional legal experts have urged Trump to challenge the exuberant fine on 8th Amendment grounds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut, you know, there are supposed to be no excessive fines and, you know, no cruel and unusual punishment. It\u2019s a constitutional right.
