The View<\/em>\u00a0has made the type of headlines they would rather avoid, thanks to Joy Behar. In three separate incidences, the former stand-up comedian caused outrage due to her \u201cincredibly rude\u201d behavior during live broadcasts.<\/p>\n

The first example that caused a major backlash involved A-list guest\u00a0Kristin Chenoweth<\/a>, who is a popular star having won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance as Sally Brown in\u00a0You\u2019re a Good Man, Charlie Brown<\/em>\u00a0on Broadway. Chenoweth has a very distinguished track record as a singer and actress, and that\u2019s part of what made her encounter on\u00a0The View<\/em>\u00a0so disturbing for many fans,\u00a0The Sun<\/em>\u00a0reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Chenoweth is rather short and petite, standing at just 4-foot-1, which makes her quite small. It seems Behar had this on her mind when chatting with the guest. First, Behar made a comment early on during Chenoweth\u2019s appearance on the show that the staff could have \u201craised the seat a little\u201d for her. Many thought that Behar was looking for a cheap laugh at Chenoweth\u2019s expense but Behar wasn\u2019t done highlighting Chenoweth\u2019s small stature.<\/p>\n

Behar said to Chenoweth, \u201cWell, we love having you. You\u2019re a little girl with a big voice and a big heart.\u201d One viewer blasted Behar for the remark: \u201cLittle girl? No Joy she\u2019s a grown woman. I didn\u2019t care for that remark from Joy.\u201d Another viewer theorized that it was likely due to Chenoweth\u2019s youthful voice: \u201cJoy calling Kristen a lil\u2019 girl! It\u2019s probably the voice!\u201d<\/p>\n

A second incident, where Joy Behar was castigated over rude behavior, left viewers upset again.\u00a0The Sun<\/em>\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0that fans took issue with Behar appearing to be asleep during moderator Whoopi Goldberg\u2019s outro about a mass shooting.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know there have been 39 mass shootings in the first month of 2023 and obviously and unfortunately it is not going away and it is one we will be addressing again,\u201d Goldberg said. As she spoke, Behar could be heard saying, \u201cGod.\u201d As the camera panned out, each of the co-hosts had solemn looks on their faces, except for Behar, who had her head down and looked like she was sleeping. It was unclear if Behar was purposely trying to feign being asleep, but viewers were not having it either way.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan\u2019t u wait a minute for the show to be over? \u201d one fan\u00a0commented<\/a>\u00a0on social media. \u201cWTF did u ever do without your freakin phone? @theview #TheView @JoyVBehar kinda sad.\u201d Another critic added, \u201cThe most rude, ignorant old lady ever!!\u201d A third commented that Behar \u201ccomes across as a mean bully and makes it very difficult to watch the show. It\u2019s not funny \u2013 it\u2019s just rude.\u201d<\/p>\n

Behar\u2019s rudeness made headlines a third time when she attempted to defend Joe Biden claiming he wasn\u2019t too old to run for re-election.\u00a0Entertainment Weekly<\/em>\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0The View<\/em>\u00a0cohost fired back at those who felt that Biden was not fit to lead the country as the oldest president in U.S. history. \u201cJoe Biden and I are the same age. Would you say I could not do my job for the next four years? Of course, I can,\u201d Behar said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the haters can go stick their heads in something because I\u2019m not moving out of this seat,\u201d Joy Behar declared. The backlash over Behar\u2019s remarks was brutal. One critic\u00a0commented<\/a>, \u201cShe\u2019s a rude bully and needs to go\u2026 nothing to do with her age!\u201d Another viewer remarked, \u201cFunny that she uses the word haters. She\u2019s among the\u00a0biggest haters<\/a>\u00a0allowed on television!\u201d Another commenter added, \u201cNot really ageism if people think you just suck!\u201d<\/p>\n

Speculation over Behar\u2019s time on\u00a0The View<\/em>\u00a0has long made headlines. The original\u00a0panelist<\/a>\u00a0took a break from the series between 2013 to 2015 and fronted short-lived solo shows on other networks.
