Recently, Toby Keith revealed important information about his health that saddened his fans. The longtime fan favorite recently revealed that he is battling an illness.<\/p>\n
The Oklahoma-born musician revealed that he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in the fall of 2021 and has been receiving treatment for the condition ever since.<\/p>\n
In a statement via his social media platforms, Keith shared details about the experience. He said: \u201cI have spent the last 6 months undergoing chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. So far so good. I need time to catch my breath, recover and relax.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite his health issues, Toby was also quick to call out the fans who know and love him. He said: \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to spending time with my family. But I\u2019ll see the fans sooner rather than later. I can not wait. \u2013 T.\u201d<\/p>\n
It was not immediately clear what the status of Keith\u2019s scheduled shows for the remaining months of the year would be. But according to information on his website, his next concert will be held on June 17 in Wheaton, Illinois.<\/p>\n
The site also announced that he released his latest album, \u201cPeso in mi Pocket\u201d, just last year after taking a break from touring due to the Covid pandemic.<\/p>\n
At the time, he had an interview with PEOPLE about his album. Keith said he came up with the ideas for the album\u2019s songs while doing his favorite activity \u2013 running. He said: \u201cI would look at the song ideas I had on my phone before I started running and then I would get up.<\/p>\n
Next thing I know, my time would be up, and I\u2019d be working non-stop, grinding the gears in my head for songs. I would go back and put the recorder on the phone and stretch out what I had. \u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cIt was a great time to write.<\/p>\n
Following Keith\u2019s discovery, the Ohio State Fair confirmed that the July 28 show in Columbus, Ohio, has been postponed.<\/p>\n
Keith\u2019s publicist, Elaine Schock, said some tour dates will be cancelled, \u201cbut I\u2019m not sure how many at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n
Toby Keith is a prominent figure in the music industry. In 2021, Keith received the National Medal of Arts, which the National Endowment for the Arts describes as \u201cthe highest award given to artists and patrons by the United States government.\u201d<\/p>\n
