He is currently being held at Collin County Jail on a $1 million bond. As of yesterday, an opinion-splitting fundraiser for Anthony and his family \u201cduring this challenging and difficult time,\u201d had raised in excess of\u00a0$400,000.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to his Anthony\u2019s bond hearing, scheduled for today, Monday, April 14, his\u00a0family moved\u00a0to retain Mike Howard, a Dallas criminal defense attorney.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-168124\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/04\/14120406\/Skarmavbild-2025-04-14-kl.-14.00.56.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"692\" height=\"696\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Karmelo Anthony. Cole., confirmed to\u00a0WFAA\u00a0on Saturday that they will no longer be representing him. The Next Generation Action Network (NGAN) \u2013 a non-profit supporting the teen \u2013 announced the legal change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe family of Karmelo Anthony has officially retained Attorney Mike Howard as lead counsel in Karmelo\u2019s legal defense,\u201d the group said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful for the early support from Attorneys Billy Clark and Kim Cole, and we continue working to build a strong legal team for the fight ahead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKarmelo deserves what every citizen deserves: fair treatment and full rights under the law. We won\u2019t stop fighting until he gets it,&#8217;\u201d the organization added.<\/p>\n<p>As per reports, a private funeral\u00a0was held for Austin Metcalf on Saturday morning at\u00a0Hope Fellowship Frisco East church.
