Clint Eastwood vowed to raise his children away from Hollywood culture and believed in \u201cold school\u201d parenting. In fact, his son Scott Eastwood said there was no \u201cnew age bullsh*t\u201d parenting from his dad, as he recalled a very pivotal moment when Clint \u201cpopped\u201d him in the face when he made one particularly bad decision.<\/h3>\n

Clint Eastwood is known for his \u201ctough guy\u201d on-screen persona. If you thought he would be as tough at home as he is on camera, you would be right. According to the legendary actor and director\u2019s son, Scott Eastwood, Clint was a pretty strict father. Now that Scott is becoming a successful actor in his own right, he\u2019s thankful for his dad\u2019s parenting techniques.<\/p>\n

In an interview with\u00a0GQ Magazine,\u00a0<\/em>Scott opened up about his famous dad going \u201cold school\u201d on him when he was 16 years old.\u00a0\u201cI had taken my younger sister, who was, like, 14, to this party,\u201d Scott said. \u201cI left, maybe to go get beer with the guys. And I left her and I didn\u2019t think about it at the time. Later, Dad found out that I\u2019d left her there.\u201d<\/p>\n

According<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0GQ<\/em>, Clint Eastwood, all six-foot-one of him, slammed his teenage son against a wall. He wrapped his hands around Scott\u2019s throat and punched him, square in the face. \u201cHe popped me and said, \u2018You don\u2019t ever leave your sister at a party. EVER.\u2019 And it was very old-school, very old-school of him,\u201d the younger Eastwood declared.<\/p>\n

Scott described this as a pivotal moment in his childhood, as it taught him a lesson that he has never forgotten. \u201cHe wasn\u2019t afraid. None of this new-age bullsh*t where you can\u2019t even smack the kid because everyone\u2019s afraid of being judged or whatever,\u201d he added. \u201cThat wasn\u2019t the way that sh*t went down in that family\u2026 If you did something wrong, you were going to get punished. I learned quickly \u2013 you don\u2019t do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clint was a tough father to all of his eight children, refusing to give them \u201chandouts\u201d and encouraging hard and honest work, despite being worth millions himself. \u201cIt\u2019s an interesting time,\u201d Scott\u00a0stated<\/a>. \u201cMy father\u2019s definitely old-school. And he raised me with integrity\u2014to be places on time, show up, and work hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott spoke about another time when his dad instilled a life lesson about earning things for yourself. \u201cI called [Dad] and was like, \u2018I\u2019ve got this job, can I get eight grand to buy a truck?\u201d he recalled. \u201cI\u2019m working this job, I can pay you back \u2018X\u2019 amount a month, you know,\u2019 and I remember the phone going silent\u2026 And he\u2019d just be like, \u2018Yeah, no. You\u2019re fine with what you\u2019re doing.\u2019 He wouldn\u2019t give me a dime.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I don\u2019t want to give him all the credit,\u201d Scott added. \u201cBecause Mom had a huge part in raising me too, and making me a better man, but he definitely was the hammer.\u201d Scott\u2019s earliest childhood memories of his father remain vivid.<\/p>\n

\u201cPoking around the film set on\u00a0Space Cowboys<\/em>; taking long helicopter rides up the Californian coast, Clint in the pilot\u2019s seat. Every now and then, he\u2019d let his pre-adolescent son handle one of the dual controls. Sometimes, Scott would get dizzy and they\u2019d set the chopper down in a patch of Redwoods and eat turkey sandwiches,\u201d\u00a0GQ<\/em>\u00a0reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Scott Eastwood also shared how his relationship with his dad has changed over the years. \u201cAs a younger kid, there was kind of an aura of greatness,\u201d he said. \u201cLike, he\u2019s my hero. Now, I think every opportunity is an opportunity to hear another good story. The guy\u2019s like a vault of stories.\u201d<\/p>\n
